I go to church for the Word. I don't mind some worship, but most of it quite frankly turns me off. I am not interested in a a bunch of women who think they are God's gift to the human race getting up in the front and acting like they are from a Las Vegas entertainment center. Turns me off. If someone is moving in the Spirit, ie. moving according to the direction of the Spirit then fine, it will edify. I enjoy the Word of God. The preacher who preaches and doesn't spend his time telling stories or spewing out religious cliches from the latest best seller, is what I enjoy. I am not as interested in whether he shouts, sweats or talks. I am interested in the delivery of the Word.

The best thing to do is to have all singers male and female not up front on stage but on the floor

I have taken the time to underline all the 'I's and 'me's in your post Nikos . Believe it or not but church isn't all about what I and me want .

In regards to this topic, I think it is useful to examine how Jesus taught the people of his time. No glitz, no glamour, no funny jokes, just the truth, with miracles of healing to demonstrate his compassion and power. No smiley faces either: "If they persecuted me, they will persecute you."

I just wanted to see how it would sound if Nikos' post was tweaked a little (Apologies in advance to Nik )

One of the problems the church faces is that we have made singing songs to God as the major definition of worship. Hence musicians and singers are elevated beyond what is biblical and placed on stage like that is the height of worshipping God. The world does it with elevating entertainers and the church has copied

Singing songs can be a form of worship but it is not the ultimate expression of worship.

I believe if we are really LEAD by the SPIRIT there will be times when the pastor will say "God has told me in this service there will be no singing or music, we are going to break up into groups and wash each others feet etc.

But can you imagine what would happen if the pastor said this or something similar

What about today we are going to ask those struggling financially to come to the front and receive ministry. Then we will ask for people to bless them financially.
Now if the pastor was really being lead by the Holy Spirit he will say 'All of todays tithes and offerings will go to those needing financial help'

Most churches are run on a schedule not by the Holy Spirit

It is wrong to change the meaning of my posts. I want to be able to, like everyone else, post my views and opinions on a subject without others changing the meaning of my posts.

I would appreciate it if you would simply write your point of view and leave my posts alone.

    Thank you!

Nikos send me your address so I can send you a box of Whiskey and Rum. May throw in a few cuban cigars in for good measure
