Regarding the original post, one of the problems may be that there are many pastors who are burned out, but who feel that being a pastor is a calling, and that if you've been called, then you're called for life. Perhaps, people should consider the possibility that a pastoral calling might be a temporary rather than lifetime thing.
Another possible explanation is that parishioners place their pastors on too high of a pedestal, expecting them to be perfect instead of realizing that they are human beings who have their own problems, and who can be expected to have "off days" just like everyone else.
And lastly, too many parishioners expect their pastors to be entertainers rather than teachers. I would imagine the pressure to "perform" might be hard to bear for a person who has more of a subdued, non-flashy personality.

But no. 1 is a deal breaker. If you hate people, you are NOT called to be a shepherd

My guess is that they didn't hate people when they entered the ministry.
Church politics can be exceedingly nasty.
But regardless of the reason, if a pastor has reached that point, then it is definitely time to consider a move.

You are probably right njtom but I am glad I don't have that pressure. Our church name describes that we are a teaching ministry. Anyone who wants entertainment can go to the churches where they feel compelled to "perform." Our goal is to worship Christ, learn from Him, and then leave them four walls and make some disciples.
