Pastor Craig Duke terminated after appearing in Drag

'We're Here": Craig Duke speaks on leaving church and HBO show series

The Rev. Craig Duke was relieved from his pastoral duties last week at Newburgh United Methodist Church after receiving pushback from congregants over his appearance on HBO's "We're Here," where locals in small towns across the U.S. are transformed into drag queens. A statement from the Indiana Conference clarified that Duke did not resign and was not fired, but that "he and the Conference felt that he was no longer able to effectively serve in parish ministry with the Newburgh congregation." The Rev. Craig Duke has been a Methodist minister for three decades, with a reputation as an advocate of LGBTQ inclusion.

Agreed, but at least the people rose up. That's saying a lot for Methodist.

Wow, Indiana,, gezzz guess there is more than corn in Indiana. Scary,,, Method theology?

Churches in my area don't short change the Gospel truths, that I know of. But it is Method Theology. Wow, another dash in the realm of that "freaks my weirdness".

Methodists are generally, denominationally a very discerning people. There is a reason for that.

Yeah I know, seeds were planted in me for sure.

Never heard an altar call ever in the many preaching sermons I heard in my youth up till I was 16 or so of age. Attended quite a few after, but not regularly through the years with my Mother. When she would nag me to come to Church or get right with the Lord.

Always prayed the Lord's Prayer during a service and said the Apostles Creed. Those two things I had written in the eyes of my heart. They did Communion service as well. Didn't know the relationship with Jesus until the Pentecostal road came upon me.
