The way he treated his staff.

Some of them didn't say anything, but he never repented, never took responsibility and continually was .. well, viscous is the only word that works. Eventually there was publication of the sequence of events. It was ugly. I come close to using "cult" in the loyality he demanded.

So, this is an interesting turn of events. I share his doctrine and am completely against him starting another church. He needs serious help.

I don't have as much details as those of you in America but enough to think he needed public rebuke for the way he controlled and abused his authority. That is a serious sin

Don't believe he should of closed his church down but some sort of time out and repentance/restoration was necessary and he could then continue

Well, I wasn't aware that he had never repented to his staff. I do find it hard to believe that he would have the solid backing of a group of ministers that he is accountable to, and that they havn't addressed this in a wholehearted manner. So that's where I would reserve judgement. If true, I would agree that that would have to be fully addressed so that he can start with a clean slate. I know there were complaints about this when everything broke, but I thought it had been addressed per Driscoll's statements. So I dunno.....

I was only familiar because I'd "liked" him on FB.. and appreciated his posts.

When all hell broke lose I didn't pay much attention.. it was later, in one of my groups where the deeper info came to light. I then followed all the way back to when things started.

I don't think I have the link though.. sorry for that. I do know there was a group on FB with the people who'd been abused, for encouraging and uplifting each other to move on from this.
