That's a lot of cats! Have they been fixed so the population doesn't continue to grow?
Many cities now offer a TNR program for ferals.

It don't bother me, I live out in the boondock's I haven't seen but one mouse in the house in years, that was last spring. Everybody in the hood here feeds them as well, think they notice the mice thing too. Not many live to 3 years old. Coyotes get a lot of them, every now and then find on out by the road dead from getting hit. Food chain cycle ya know. I've had them them around here for ever.
My first wife got a cat one time (a female, Blondie) and after while it ended up out doors and after about 4 years I had nearly 35 that were tame. I go out the door some mornings and see the kill they brought me to show me they were doing their job. Starlings, sparrows, moles, snakes and mice. That bunch would hunt.
Then the dog would always meet me at the car door when I got off work. Well the cats all followed his lead. It was funny to see the dog come running to greet me then a herd of cats right behind him. I'd take awhile to get out of the car I'd be pet'n em and they jump up in the car and all. I'd be swarmed. Lol ~
Gives me something to do in the morning. They fertilize the garden good too.

Good story and if they just killed rats, mice and introduced animals it is welcome
Down here they kill alot of our native birds and marsupials and has become a real problem - Many of our native animals are unique so if they die out then gone for good

Right, outside cats can be very destructive to native wildlife which is why many communities offer that TNR program to help reduce their populations. It's more humane for the cats also as many suffer from injuries diseases starvation harsh weather and more.
