When I use to trap for fur bearing animals, (which helped farmers as well) you got a pretty good price for mink. I mainly got muskrat, racoon, gray fox, sometimes a possum. I caught a cotton mink one time in a pan trap, (foot trap). Seen a bobcat one time & a blue fox, was rare thing back then, just like seeing a deer back in them days. Cotton Mink have the white on their chin and you get docked a bit for them than you do a complete black one.
One morning we was running traps down in a muck field ditch and had my miniature (she was a runt) German Shephard and she ran down in clasped part of the soil that had muskrat tunnels on the sides. And Ginger came out with a muskrat in her mouth. She sure was a good dog.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
>>TNR
Yeah, funny thing with that, had a feral cat that we were feeding, it had kittens so the plan was to take them to the county TNR program when they were weaned, so the kittens get weaned, I decide to play trapper, buy the traps, spend a good portion of the week trying to get all of them, get them, take them to the TNR place, all good, no more feral cat family to feed! So about 5 days later I'm looking out the window and what do I see? The whole feral cat family on the patio, thought I might be hallucinating but it turns out that down here they return the cats to where they came from (my patio).

We used our German Shepherd to dispatch rats and cats. Kim was a well trained state police dog and my mom who worked with the troopers (mom was a private detective) brought her home for our pet back in '73. She was an awesome dog and would yip and squeel with delight when a feral cat was out in our (country folks here) front yard. She would bite on and rag-doll them. Great watch dog with some funny memories.

My Jack Russel is a good mouser. We had a nest and she found and killed every one of them.

I think you might need to elaborate on that a little bit. :)

She started with Pinkerton Security inventing new methods for catching shoplifters, setting records for Pinkerton agents making apprehensions back in the early '70s. She later worked for a private I company that carried corporate assignments.

Knowing Jacks, I can see that happening.

That's really strange, normally they adopt the kittens out unless they were older and had already turned too feral?
