Nice caravan. The place looks amazing. Do bears visit for a coffee and cake.

My neighbor and his wife earlier this year bought a modern fancy type caravan and he showed me inside. It's like a hotel room.
Not really camping but living in luxury while pretending to camp

They are a good couple and work hard so wish them well but what a way to camp

The bears won't come into the state park campgrounds but will be bothersome at the smaller rustic campgrounds out in the wilderness areas. The worst we have are squirrels.

RVing has gone over the mountain the past 20 years. You can go huge if you have the desire. We started with a 1967 Fleetwing trailer back in '88. It was so small (re:cute) you had to go outside to change your mind. I got tired of long walks to the bath house.

Lol... have you ever been to the Nun Doll Museum ? You probably have but for those who've never heard of it it's an interesting place with a whole lot of nun dolls including giant life size ones.

Yup, that's the place. That park made the news when trees came down on a few rv's and cars. No one hurt, thank God. I told my wife if that was us, we'd get away from trees. Cross in the woods is still there. Nun doll museum?? That's a new one to me but then I have been there only 3 times maybe. Burt Lake state park is a nice place. Here in the UP, Indian Lake is very popular.

Have you been to Big Spring Kitch-iti-kipi?

No never been there, actually haven't been to the UP in at least a couple decades.

It was actually at Burt Lake many years ago when a sudden bad thunderstorm developed in the middle of the night. That'll get your adrenaline going, tall trees towering over you while you're in a flimsy tent.

Next time you're there check out the Nun Museum. It starts off with normal dolls but once you turn a corner you're almost startled to see these huge nuns towering over you. I'm sure it brings back some bad memories for some from Catholic schools.

Down at the sandy beach at Bete Grise Bay of Lake Superior. Rugged beauty that is Michigan, this place is the best of it all.
Currently, a steamy 90 degrees and being peppered with popup thunderstorms.

We took a drive into the historic copper mining town of Calumet for a halftime stop at the laundramat and touring the town. We were here back in Sept '78 and have since been fascinated by their way of life. Residents love their rich industrial era town.

390" of snow. In one winter.

On the way back up to camp we took an out of the way very scenic tour that ended in Copper Harbor where we will spend the next week starting tomorrow. Anyways, the Keweenaw Peninsula has many fine waterfalls. This one is in the lakeside village of Eagle River. What a sight.

Copper Harbor! Tomorrow finally, I will hit the mountain trail called "on the edge". And it really is no exaggeration. Should have some cool pics. I've waited several years to ride this trail. You can youtube a vid of "on the edge". Check it out. Yahoo!

Here is the northernmost town in Michigan, Copper Harbor main drag:

Here is our camp. Best campground we have seen. Very well wooded and next to historic Fort Wilkins:
