    Hummingbird Moths

    Do you have any of these fluttering around your lilacs? Fascinating little things. First time seeing one I jumped back. They are not easily frightened, either.

    I thought it was some kind of mutant hornet we had down here. It's just a moth?!

    hmmmmm, looking at the search I did, the things I see flying around here MIGHT be mutant hornets. I haven't ever seen the cool looking wings on them.

    I saw them for the first time a few years ago and posted pics on FB because I had no idea what they were. Fascinating little creatures.
