    Bird Feeders

Do you have any, what do you put in them and what kind of birds do they attract? I will be putting out the hummingbird feeder soon. :)

We don't do bird feeders. We used to have a next door neighbor who did and it made our yard a breeding ground for weeds. I do love to see the birds though.

We had 4 Eastern Meadowlawks come in. They winter in Central America and they were on the few bare spots we have up here.

I have seeded bird feeder, buy assorted bird seed mixture...placed on a shepherds hook with a slinky to keep squirrels off....I love to watch them while having morning coffee....I also have, (need to put out now), a hummingbird feeder...it also is on a shepherds hook in front of the sunroom window close to the bee hive...apparently the bees don't mind or the humming birds....

I feed the deer to keep them out of the bird area. Pretty sure that wont work with the bears.

Let me know if the squirrels defeat your slinky measures. I got a kick watching the videos and have wondered how long or if the squirrels can work through it. I have a squirrel-proof caged feeder and have found the reds content to eat the spillage underneath.

I almost tried the collander and surgical tubing slingshot trick, just never got around to it.

Here is a bird I’ve not seen before. Hiding in the silver maple but visible, the yellow-billed cuckoo. Handsome bird.

Here is a picture (not mine)...
