Thread: Do you have a pond?

Every 7 minutes is just as bad.

Friends and I were discussing this very subject this evening - that we don't eat all these geese that are running around. I guess one big issue would be with the roaming flocks of geese, you never know what or where they have been eating. That would certainly put me off. However, if it came down to it and there was a food shortage, I wouldn't hesitate.

No thanks. I'd rather just shoot them and be done with it, but I was being PC.

I haven't but I wish I had. We have the land for it, too, but can't seem to make my dh do anything about it. Maybe I should try myself, and when (if) I get stuck I hopefully he will take over.

I used to have one that was a foot wide, it got filled by rain water. It wasn't supposed to be there of course. Now it's full of soil and hopefully some grass is growing there.

It is a project in progress. My main pond is about 30' x 60', and the upper pond is usually about 8' x 100'. I pump water through a pipe from the lower to the upper, where it aerates the water and then flows back down and dumps back into the bigger pond. I have been praying that the water will come up another few inches, and the water will just wash through the trench and dig it out the rest of the way. Then I can install the gate and pipe and regulate just how much water I want in the pond.

We catch fish and put them in there too. There are an abundance of frogs and tadpoles, which our ducks absolutely love all throughout the summer. The kids and grand kids also love to catch frogs when they are out in the summer.

That sounds so neat...thanks for sharing Zeke! I always wanted a real pond with water lillies and frogs and turtles and fish. Do you have any pics you could post?
