Gearing Up For The Badlands and Yellowstone

I've had an aching in my heart for Montana the past few years and finally (God willing!) it looks like Vicki and I will see this beautiful region of the USA. First step, a newer truck. The 2010 Ram 1500 TRX4 in my avatar needed to be replaced for a trip of this scope. We recently picked up (punfully intended) a low mileage, immaculate 2015 Ram 1500 Sport, fully loaded with identical drivetrain. The 3.92 w/6sp and 5.7 Hemi will do a great job pulling the 27' Nomad camper as did the TRX4.

I may try to persuade my wife to bring a laptop and begin a youtube channel to accompany my GoPro normally used for fishing, biking etc. We'll see. Lot's of planning and prep work ahead for my next 3 months.

Sounds fantastic FB. The 2015 sounds about right, any newer and you are getting into throwaway vehicles, forget the computer/ECM, they actually run everything on a network (CAN), totally ridiculous to troubleshoot and repair.

Document it for sure. Sounds exciting.

Sounds like a fantastic trip!! I've never been through the Dakotas but Montana and Wyoming are beautiful. Colorado is pretty cool too.

    Do it! It'll be wonderful!

We're driving down to Oregon in September for the Rodeo in Pendleton....

See if you can do a rodeo while you're driving through. Go to the pro rodeo website and check out the schedule!

I hope for you that DOGE will not shut down all payments to the Nationalparks

You are too naive to even think that.

Not to mention Stellantis charging a mortgage to buy a new one. They have overpriced Jeeps into oblivion.

FB, will you plan on trying to coordinate some seasonal hunting (depending on which game is available) within the timeframe of when you leave to go there?

I'd love an elk hunt but the cost and time pretty much puts it in a dedicated effort. Now, if my wife hunted...
