Fishing!
I have been watching these little pond pirate 2-seat bass boats for the past 25 years. Never had an interest until watching a husband and wife using one on a very small lake where we were wilderness camping last month. My wife liked it and the search was on. These boats are in huge demand and scarce to find even used. I drove 1100mi to bring this one back from sports store in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Here is the SS Bowfin named after the fish that lurks in quiet dark swamp ponds and lakes...

Today was the first fishing outing. My grandson came along and is fast becoming my fishing partner when he can. We were skunked but who cares. We were trolling along when Caden said "this is really nice".

Not pike. Those I release. Bass are eaten, I like those but alot of fish guys don't eat them. Bluegill, that is a restaurant delicacy. Yum.
Last night we got skunked but then, water temps are 80deg. I'll fish a deeper lake this weekend.

Pan fish are my fav, rock bass taste close to the pan fish (blue gill, sun fish, croppy, perch). Not many walleye around here, but like them as well. Will eat catfish & any bass too.

Went out this afternoon and not even a bite. My Garmin Striker 4 was marking schools of fish probably 'gills (brim to the southers). It was fun watching them on the screen at 22ft water. Marked a few nice solo fish, probably bass. A pike looks like a stick on sonar. Oh well, still fun to get out.

Spending the next week here in a little village campground. We are smack in the middle of the chain of lakes in Ellsworth. The 8 lake chain is joined by channels that allow passage of small boats. This is Muskie country. All my days since the teen years I have dreamed of lake hopping with a small boat or canoe in pursuit of the freshwater tiger, the muskie. Here we go...

Out on Ben-Way lake with my wife fishing the late shift. She is a total newbie at fishing. Fishing with a crawler for bluegills, she was on the boards first. Then, she says "I think I got one but not sure. I can hear the reel drag singing and then nothing. Stripped the hook off. Best I can tell, it was a line break or bite-off. Anyways...

We went out for some night fishing. Perfect conditions for pike. We stayed out an hour after dark and used the navigation lights on the little boat first time. Vicki was catching bluegill so I nabbed one and put it on a treble hook and tossed it back in. I said this is how to catch a pike. Not even a minute went by and a pike nailed it and it was game on. Here it is...
