True story. Maybe because bass carry grub parasites because of their environment of shallow warm waters. Smallmouth out of big, cool and clear lakes is a different story but still not worth the trouble in general. Bluegill, perch and walleye are a delicacy. You won't find freshwater bass on restaurant menu's.

Caught this one last night. Tonight will be another try but with my wrestling coach friend. We will fish the weeds near a dropoff where they hang out. Fun fish to catch.

My good friend and I hit my favorite lake tonite and we got into them pretty good. He was hauling in the biggest bluegills we have ever seen, one after the other so he stayed with that lure and fish. Me, I was after pike and hooked my personal best, biggest ever largemouth at 4lbs and 21". Trolling back to the launch I hooked another nice bass just a bit smaller.

Thank you, that was a fun moment seeing that huge white bucket mouth in a tangle of weeds.

Here is what I got in email this morning as my friend Jerry vacationing here caught on Walloon lake just 5 miles from our house. We really really are in a world class fishery. Amazing. This is his northern pike he caught this morning. Of course he had to give me the berries over it. Wow!

Lovely lake. My grampa had a house on that lake and grew up doing summer days on his Chris Craft.

Good video. That biggest bass must have been close to 9 or 10 pounds!
