Very busy. Caught 10 fish in the 90min on the water. Had several perch, largemouth bass, rock bass, pike and the biggest bonus surprise catch was this walleye. Filets for dinner tomorrow night.

This 26" northern hit my lure at the side of the boat and the rumble was on:

The pike did as pike do, they come out of nowhere and hit-n-run. I was marking zero fish in this stretch of water trolling. Almost ready to reel up and cruise, this female bent the pole and peeled some drag. Always fun to catch.

Deer lake is my fun, action lake. These are where you go to find the very occasional walleye, lots of pike and bass. A place for fun.

Then, there are muskie lakes. Last night was my muskie night. It's a lot like deer hunting. Most times you go you get skunked. Last night on Six Mile Lake was a gorgeous, quiet calm night as the sun went down. The lake is quite narrow and as long as the name states.

Trolling at various places and depths, at the end of the evening (last light) I was hoping for at least a walleye strike but nothing. At 25ft of water, very calm and still waters, a loud "slosh" came from the stern in the prop wash. There is only one fish that does this. Muskie. They love to track behind your boat in the prop wash. Muskie are not shy nor afraid. They are the great white shark of small inland lakes that contain them, most states do not stock or have a muskie planting program. Here in Michigan, we have many lakes with them but certainly not as common as the northern pike, another of the esox family.

I'm hooked. I will target them.

They taste pretty good, especially same day catch. Most people throw bass back but I filet and pan fry. Yum. Pike have too many bones but have heard they are good. Muskie is almost total catch and release due to their size limit of 46". If they are kept, most will go to a taxidermist.

The muskie will break all the rules about fish etiquette. My favorite vid of my favorite two fish, one eating the other. Incredible.
