Nice! Do you have goby up there? I found out by accident that if you keep a small one, say 2 to 3 inches on your hook the small mouth bass can't resist them.

Any issues with mosquitoes on the lake? They've been brutal down here.

Never used a goby for live bait. Pike can't resist a treble hooked bluegill or perch. When I get a minnow bucket/aerator for larger minnows I'll get sucker minnows. Muskie can't resist them. Mosquitoes are not too bad. My lower legs are bit up when we are at the launches. The yellow jackets are pestering us. Can't take a swig without looking in the bottle.

Ok just got set up at Tomahawk Creek Flooding. Should be a great week of catching fish. I need a little more action than where we were. Place is just gorgeous and peaceful. This one is off the grid.

I've had miserable non-success from the boat. Nothing has worked. That is, until now. From the shore I tossed a plastic worm "whacky rigged" and caught this little largemouth.

Back home and later will go downtown to the mouth of the river for bass fishing. Maybe I can post some pics of a big largemouth or even a smallie. A lot of big ones have been caught there.

Found a nice heavy baitcast rod/reel for 15.00 at a local yard sale. Screaming crazy deal and just what I need for the upcoming king salmon run. Also the perfect setup for muskie fishing this next spring/summer, God willing.

A little off topic but this popped up in my youtube feed, didn't realize you could catch fish in ditches.

Definately on topic. Down nearer to you is the Huron River with it's drain system. Our first pastorate was West Road A/G at West Rd and Merriman. Our church property had a ditch out back that had fish in it. I was in a neighborhood member's backyard visiting and we got to talking about backyard fish. They had pike swim up in their backyard creek one spring. My brother has fished some of those freeway ponds in Indiana and he says it's the best bass fishing you will find.

I'm surprised the guy didn't catch a dogfish (bowfin). That's the kind of places you find them.

Back home and fishing the local lakes. Tonight showed some good signs of the fall upswing. First, watertemps are 13deg cooler than my visit here 3wks ago. Fish are much more agressive. Tonight I caught 3, one was a perch that attacked a lure as big as it was. Finished the evening at last light with this bigger largemouth:
