CBS rebooting "Murphy Brown"
https://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...ushpmg00000024
She’s back!
CBS has ordered 13 episodes of a “Murphy Brown” reboot.
In a story first reported by Deadline.com, both series star Candice Bergen and series creator Diane English will be involved in the revival of the popular sitcom, which debuted in 1988 and ran for 10 seasons until 1998.
Bergen won five Emmys for playing the tough-as-nails cable news journalist. No air date has been set, but there are talks to bring back other original cast members as well.
The show’s highest profile came during the 1992 election when then-Vice President Dan Quayle criticized Bergen’s fictional character by saying the show mocked “the importance of fathers by bearing a child alone and calling it just another lifestyle choice.”
The original series often commented about current events, which has made many of the 247 original episodes seem dated over the years.
Still, the Hollywood Reporter noted the modern world of “cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate” should provide plenty of material for the reboot...
I don't care one whit what ya'll say, I watched "Murphy Brown" back when it was on the first time and I LOVED it!!

My first thought too...but that show always swung to the left. ;)
Wonder what other old TV shows will be revived...I've caught some of the new X-Files and they've been fun.

No doubt she's a lefty. But what interests me is that she's been married for 18 years to a NYC real estate mogul. They're not usually off the charts liberal.

I'm not all that excited about all the 90's reboots. I have been watching X-Files, but it just isn't the same. The last episode had Scully getting ready to taste some 3 layer dessert she hasn't had since she was a child, you can see the joyful anticipation on her face as she raises the spoon, then she pauses and puts down the spoon, saying, "I think I just want to remember it how it was" and I'm thinking YES! That's exactly how I feel about this show!

Maybe it was a subtle dig at themselves. :)

Never watched even one episode of Murphy Brown; mostly because I practically missed most of the 90's watching TV, with a few exceptions. I just bought a RoKu stick and I'm enjoying old TV programming like Hart to Hart, Mission Impossible, Perry Mason, and a couple of the classic Westerns of the 50's and 60's, like The Rifleman.
