Ok, so I wasn't going to even watch this, but oh_my_gosh! Absolutely fascinating! An hour goes by watching this and it literally feels like 5 minutes. Incredible experiment.
So this is airing on A&E network after The First 48 on Thursdays (I DVR it), 10 EST. So normal civilians from many different backgrounds, for their own reasons, allowed themselves to be put in a real jail, with real inmates, for 60 days. They really did not commit any crime. Not even the guards or staff, except for 2 (higher up) people know about this. They all have various "cover stories" that they relate to the inmates and they have to follow this script during their 60 days. One of the more arrogant guys is a school teacher and he didn't follow his script well, and has greatly arisen suspicion with the other inmates. These people are basically going to report back to the Sheriff Deputy in charge of the prison, and who is one of two people who actually know what is going on, what is REALLY going on with regard to how inmates get contraband and drugs into the jail and whatnot. One of Muhammed Ali's daughters is one of the people that agreed to do this. Her name is Maryum.
The cover story for having cameras and producers around sometimes, is that some film makers wanted to follow first timers and interview them. Also, they installed cameras everywhere, so you pretty much know what is going on at all times.
It is a fascinating "reality tv" show. Not a boring second when you watch it. Give it a try. I think you'll be hooked.
