How true. People, including believers, use the Bible for all kinds of political ends and typically with little or no knowledge about that which they are (ab)using. Forcing Ruth and Naomi into the role of lesbians because that's their best shot at it may be the most miserable pc theory ever. Ruth as a weightlifter and Boaz as her coach would make tons more sense.

She's the only one who had more than one child.
1 Chron 3 mentions nine sons that don't have a specific mother assigned to them plus sons of concubines. It doesn't list daughters except for Tamar because she was raped by her brother. And the Bible does actually refer to that specific act as a rape.

He could have anything he wanted, if he was denied he had the power to make her life very difficult. He ended up having her husband killed to cover up his dirty deed...so I think David certainly "violated" her but not in the way we're prone to think.
Whether it was rape or not depends entirely on to which degree Bathsheba was able to refuse him and get away with it without any further problems. We know nothing about that. For all we know, he may not even have suggested an affair unless he thought that she was going to go along with it. For all we know, it may have started the very moment he saw her from the rooftops and she turned and looked at the king looking at her. For all we know, the notion of the king that forced himself on any woman may be total nonsense - right up until the moment when he discovered that she was pregnant. And now it was Uriah he used force against and not his mistress-for-a-day.

I believe my wife had a wise answer by referring to prophet Nathans rebuke.
There is no mention of Bathsheba being rebuked by Nathan as God placed the blame 100% on David
Bathsheba did suffer by losing her baby and that was it - but God blamed David for the baby dying
My wife also said that Nathan called Bathsheba a 'lamb' not a sheep in the parable. A lamb is harmless and innocent.
Without being dogmatic there is at least from Nathan's parable a reasonable assumption she was innocent
This has to be the BEST explanation I have ever heard/read on this subject. Very insightful. Thanks Cardinal.
Please by your wife a chocolate bar as a reward for this insight and tell it was from me as a thanks.

Jesus died for David too. :)
Good point
Sometimes atheists try to use the immoral acts of God's servants as they are accurately recorded in Scripture to disparage God Himself and attempt to make the Bible into an immoral book. Yet, God distinctly rebuked the actions of King David and, ironically, said that David's action gave God's enemies a reason to blaspheme (the root meaning of "blasphemy" means to "blame God").
Atheists and other critics of the Bible do not understand that God holds nothing back, even the stuff that is seemingly embarrassing to Him. God is a God of truth who tells history as it is. He is not the revisionist historian that we find among dishonest educators today. God told every nasty detail of every event as a warning to us not to do it.
Like another man of God once said, I am just glad that all the crazy stuff I have done is not recorded in Scripture for everybody to read and pick apart

That makes me want to live a godly life even though none of us are perfect. Last thing I want is for people to blaspheme/blame God because of my ungodly actions.

I feel you bro. I am the same way. I do not want to embarrass the Lord or give His enemies an occasion to blaspheme.
