The further right in the category the less it is word for word, thought for though, and paraphrase.
Within the word for word group, NASB is the most word for word, but that doesn't necessarily mean more accurate within the word for word. The reason I say this is I was in a meeting with Kenneth Hagin many years ago and he said he was talking to one of the NASB translators. They had made a 'pact' or something that they would be as accurate as possible. He said the man told him when they got to Isaiah 53, where Jesus bore our griefs and carried our sorrows, the most accurate way to translate that is 'sickness' and 'pains'. He said that the man told him they wanted to translate it sickness an pains but somebody said something along the lines of 'that would be playing right into the Pentecostal hands' or something along that line. So they translated it griefs and sorrows and footnoted it as sickness and pains. That's the gist of the story though as well as I can remember it. It's been a LONG time. lol.

And the NKJV which follows the KJV closely is so old that that way of thinking didn't exist yet, I suppose. That's interesting.
