Holy Spirit uses the word to open our hearts and minds to the purpose of tithing. It's the human mind set against it that loves to twist the word around to support its lack of trust in God's full provision of all things material and spiritual.

I think you've merely figured out how to bring this down from giving everything to God and to where you can instead keep the 90 percent for yourselves and then call yourselves spiritual. And to people wth lots of income that is very easy to do, they don't even have to give it a second thought. Just my opinion.

Actually 100% is God's. In His generosity, He allows us to keep 90% for our own discriminate use.

You actually need scripture to prove that all things belong to God? That it is God who is our Jehovah Jireh? Our Provider?

I already stated before that we and everything we have should be offered on God's altar, I'm more interested in where it says that you get to keep the 90 percent for your own discriminate use.

You mean you don't pay your utility bills and buy anything for yourself? If you give it 100% to God, then shame on you for spending God's money like that.
God owns everything that we have and that means 100%. However He gives it for us to use to meet our needs. It takes faith to give 10% of it back to God. But He asks us to give it back showing our faith in Him. When we do, we are then blessed beyond measure. What a big God we serve!

I have to pay the utility bills that arrive as a matter of doing right by the utility providers, which is God's will. But he could instruct me to sell the house and do something else. For instance. God tends to allow his servants a measure of freedom with the resources that they steward but he may also retract that freedom or direct those resources as he wishes. So nothing is for my discriminate use, it all defaults back to the wishes of my Master.

That is exactly what we are talking about. We tithers believe that everything is His and the Bible gives us directions as to what we are to do with our money and our things and our lives. We believe that when God speaks to us in His Word, He doesn't go back on His Word. He has told us it is good to tithe, so we do so in obedience to the Father. He pours out a blessing on us for our obedience.
I don't know why, but He does. He is in charge of all that we have. We are stewards, as you have rightly said. And He allows us a certain amount of freedom. We can choose to obey Him or disobey Him. His Word is irretractable. But we have freedom of the will to obey or disobey.

Like I said, if I had been under the law then I would have payed 7 tithes in 3 years like the Pharisee that Jesus discussed this with did. That's the only tithing system found in the Bible and it is specific to the ceremonial law.
