Since Jesus tithed I am not sure how tithing originated with the Catholic church..maybe they reinstated the practice or began to teach on it and make it doctrine...but the giving of the tithe was not their original idea...
    You couldn't be more wrong.

We know that even the Jewish Christians taught the abolishing of the law, and especially the ceremonial part of it that the tithes are part of, already in Acts 15 :

Acts 15:10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?

That is a general abolishment. To include any part of the law as mandatory under the new covenant you will have to find a statement that includes that specific law.

If not, then we could as well resurrect anything you can name from the ceremonial law, including the phylacteries that Jesus told the Pharisees not to make too long.

Your job sets up 13 rules that you have to follow in order to get payed for the work you do. Then they tell you that there is new leadership and new rules. Among the new rules is that the old 13 rules have been abolished. They are no longer mandatory. Then they state that rules 3, 7 and 12 still apply. There is no specific mention of the other rules.

I'd like you to tell me which rules are now mandatory and which aren't, Quest.

Except the part in Hebrews where is is talking about Jesus being our High Priest and He is accept the tithe.

If Jesus is accepting something, it is His will since He does not accept things that are not His will.

I'm sure there are other scriptures you ignore on other subjects as well... but that's yo call brutha man.

Paying the tithe, and tithing the tithe... started long, long before the Old Testament.

Next time you gather plunder from a war I suggest you pay one tenth of what you gathered, to Jesus. If you can find him so that you may hand it over to him, that is.

In the meantime we may read up in for instance Romans 12 about what you are to give to Jesus. Then we may discuss whether or not that corresponds to Melchizedek receiving a tenth of the war spoils from Abraham.

You know... we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against ol knucklehead and his minions.

Be sober, be vigilant because your adversary ol nutjob is like a lion is seeking whom he may devour

I trust you can look those up if you are interested.

Well, if you study the Word of the Living God... you will find out that as long as we be here on Club Earth we will continually have to deal with the evil on and out flesh.

But, to answer your question... I'm in a covenant relationship with my Father and that's the priority.
