2 Thes 1:9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power

What are they punished with ? Everlasting destruction (Greek olethros : ruin, destroy, death). Where does this everlasting destruction come from ? From the presence of the Lord (who is Jesus, see verse 7) and from the glory of his power. Not from the devil. Just like when Nadab and Abihu brought strange fire before the Lord :

Lev 10:1 Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them.
2 So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord.

There was no exchange going on where the Lord observed this from heaven then permitted Satan to bring destruction on them. They stood before the tangibly revealed presence of God in the tabernacle and the fire went out from that presence. The Lord didn't switch with Satan in the blink of an eye so that Satan could be his stand in. That would have been far worse than their bringing strange fire before his presence.

    The same happens here :

Numbers 16:19 Then the glory of the Lord appeared to all the congregation.
20 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,
21 “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”
    ***
35 And a fire came out from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense.

The fire didn't come from Satan, it came out from the tangibly revealed glory of God that had appeared before the congregation, the one that God himself spoke from with an audible voice.

I'm sure you can reinterpret all of that so that it will fall in line with your philosophy but that is nothing more than what Universalists do all the time in order to eradicate anything that opposes the general conclusion of their choice. It's just "puzzle solving", employing the intellect to force every piece to fall in line with the general theory. Scientists do it all the time.

Some of my critics claim that my presentation of Jesus as the starting point of so-called theology, with the primary focus on how He demonstrates God's love, mercy, and grace, misses the truth about His wrath, vengeance, and judgment.

Many of these people teach "wrath" as if God turns some divine love switch off inside Himself and this leaves nothing but His wrath. However, because these men do not understand God's love, neither do they really understand His wrath. GOD'S WRATH OPERATES FROM HIS LOVE!

I say that my critics do NOT understand anything about God's wrath, vengeance, or judgment because their starting point is not in the Jesus-like God-love display, but in man-made ideas of what it means for God to be wrathful, vengeful, and judgmental. They inflect man-made ideas onto these truths rather than understanding it as it is explained fully in the Scriptures in the light of God's love.

The man-made picture of God's wrath is a mean, vindictive, divine out-of-control temper-tantrum. Yet, this is far from what the Bible teaches on the subject.

For those who truly want to understand this truth we will be giving some teaching on it on this page and in our blogs. But why wait. Order our book "How" and you'll get the insights you need to understand this Biblical truth about God. You will learn that "wrath" is not in contrast to "love".

God desires all men to be saved, his love being satisfied is the number one for him. Still he at the very least permits that people spend eternity in hell. That's not an expression of his love for them. Or is he powerless to do anything else than permit that if he so chose ? Is that what you believe in, a powerless God who cannot tell the future and he cannot do anything about the devil unless the devil or his subjects give him permission ?

You've got to start with 'When Heaven Invades Earth'. Your reaction should be similar to mine. Somebody gave it to me in about '05 or '06 or somewhere around there and I didn't know who he was. I started reading it when I went on vacation, and I couldn't put it down. I read it in two days. There wasn't anything in it I didn't know per se (or you either), but it was a perspective on healing by someone who isn't in the WOF camp. That is what was partly fascinating about it to me. A GREAT book that I would believe everyone should read.

After that, then read 'The Supernatural Power of a Transformed Mind'. Those are his first two books and his best IMO. Like I said, not stuff we don't know per se, but with his way of saying things it's just a fresh perspective and his way of saying things. Those kind of books if you're going to highlight the good stuff you end up highlighting the whole book.

As a matter of fact, if you'll tell me you'll read it, I'll buy it and send it to you. GIMJ probably has the PDF to both of them. He has some secret stash to all these great books in PDF. :)

I don't have anything by Bill Johnson in my "stash"

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...

You would be wise to keep it that way.

I just ordered “when Heaven Invades Earth.” But I didn’t order it so much based on your glowing endorsement. When I saw the a certain negative response to GIMJ’s post then I began to think that perhaps it must be good book if some people recommend against getting his books.
