Thread: No, 'Saul the Persecutor' Did Not Become 'Paul the Apostle

Both Santa photos are so sweet! I remember going to see Santa once at Sears. I think I was scared of him.

My perception has been that Saul's name was changed by Jesus showing his life transformation. It certainly isn't an upset to find out differently.

Just like many preachers have stated that Elijah was taken up in a chariot of fire. That is not what the scripture says:
Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

It says that ten verses earlier too, in the narration. I suppose it is easier to depict him going up in one of the chariots than by way of a whirlwind.

Well there seems to be an implication that he did go up by a chariot of fire in the whirlwind. But you're right, it doesn't specifically say he got in the chariot.

The chariots tend to represent angelic forces. Chariots were the most effective offensive force they had at that time. There's a passage where the Israelites are dead scared of some opposing force because they have a number of chariots. Kind of like armored cavalry.
