    Paul was addressed by the name "Saul" multiple times after his conversion on the road to Damascus. His name was NEVER changed. There were multiple languages through out the ancient world. "Saul" was the Jewish form of his name and "Paul" was the Greek form of his name. Of course, both are anglicized.

    "Wilhelm" is the German language form of the English "William."

    Guess this thread was addressing some sacred cow teachings held by some that are false....good to know and ponder these as little deceptions can open the door for bigger ones....

    I wouldn't quite call whether Jesus changed Saul/Paul's name a 'sacred cow'. There really isn't any consequence to believing it either way. Like VW said, what's it really got to do with the price of tea in China? :)

    Only if they start attacking every claim to the contrary as heresy because their error has become ingrained. You and I know some examples of that.

    I believe any error we embrace is like faulty wiring that can cause us to trip in other areas....if nothing else it should cause us to question those teaching us or to at least challenge them....
