.
I don't even see how the 144,000 Jewish Evangelists relate to that passage in Romans at all, unless they are the ones who God actually uses to reap from every Tribe.
.
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
(Ephesians 4:17-18)
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
(Psalm 1)

Well how about this idea... Maybe there are far more Jewish men who are eligible, having already been saved by grace through faith. Since we don't have any idea about some of the tribes and who has descended from them, this isn't an impossibility at all. Who says that 144,000 is the absolute total of available candidates? Maybe the rest of them get to go in the rapture and these guys get left behind. Maybe that's why they need a seal to protect them.

Gotta update my profile pic. My beard has grown a bit. I've left Hertzl behind and am taking aim at the Grateful Dead, beardwise.

Maybe the 144,000 are a particular group and the rest are included in the multitude which no man could number, from every tribe, tongue and nation?

Over in Matthew 25:31-46 we read the future account of where Jesus separates the sheep from the goats to determine of those who have survived the great tribulation as to which will enter the 1000 year millennial reign of Christ upon earth. Verse 40 says; "And the King will answer and say to them, "Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of the least of these My brothers you have done it unto Me. I've noticed that the gentile survivors who are granted to enter into Christ's millennial kingdom hinges on how one treated Christ's brothers.
Who are these brothers? It is my belief that the term brothers is referring to the 144,000 Jews mentioned in Revelation 7, Christ's brothers who bear witness of Him during the tribulation. Of coarse there will be some who disagree, and that's fine. However, it seems best to say that "brother of Mine" is a designation of the godly remnant of Israel (144,000 faithful Jews) that will proclaim the gospel of the kingdom amongst the nations during the tribulation period. They will refuse the mark of the beast therefore will have to depend on those to whom they minister for hospitality, food, and support.
It also seems that "these brothers" refer to a 3rd group outside the sheep and goats. A Gentile going out of his way to assist a Jew during the tribulation who has rejected the mark too, and who has come to the aid of Christ's Jewish brethren will be invited into the Lord's millennium kingdom. Why? Because the Lord will consider Himself so intimately united with the 144,000 Jewish believers (His brothers) that what was done or not done to them is the same as being actually done or not done to Himself.
If you put God First, you have Him at Last.

I believe that because He spells out each tribe, this portion of John's vision is speaking of an actual 144,000.
I believe the 144,000 are the Jewish witnesses that will preach Christ to Israel.

That's how I've understood it.
