The problem with 'Let go and let God' is "How?" What does that mean exactly? How does that instruct someone to actually walk in faith about the matter? Does it mean don't worry? Lots of unbelievers don't worry. Etc, etc, etc. It's very nebulous and doesn't have any practical application. It means nothing in the way it's stated. Just a trite little cliché.

Keep in mind this is a very old song. It was popular in the AOG church I used to attend. This was definitely a song sung long before we ever heard of WOF. Thus, it was a time when "cast all of your cares upon Him, for He careth for you" was taught. It was a time of abiding under the shadow of the Almighty and being covered by His wings. The devil was dealt with as needed but Christians then trusted and were comforted and cared for by the Father. It was before the days of the believer proclaiming and fighting strongholds over cities and all of the more militant teachings of today.
People were still strong believers then.

I heard someone else use that illustration before too. That would have been a good one to use if I had remembered it.
I actually thought of a couple of similar examples I could have used but it had already been a long service and since I had to [unintentionally, mind you] preach against a doctrine held by the very pastor of the church that I was preaching at I had to stay heavy on Scripture exposition.
