I wonder which team the NFL journalists will choose as their little darling this year. The team they choose to win the SB will have a monkey on their back. I hope every one of them and the horse they rode in on will sleep on the Lions this year. The Lions are still intact and improving.

The Lions suffered injuries to key players in 2024. They will be coming back healthy. Detroit is a contender and has the probability to make a deep playoff run. Even though they had some coaches leave for other destinations, I'm sure the new coaches that Lion personnel hired to replace previous staff will be more than adequate to push Lion players to maximize their full potential.

I really hope GM John Schneider and HC Mike Macdonald will make the right decisions in the 2025 NLF draft. They have the opportunity to make our team a NFC West contender with the possibility of perhaps even to win our division. The Seattle Seahawks will pick 5 rookies with their first 92 picks.

    First round 18

    Second round 50, 52

    Third round 82, 92

    Forth round 137

    Fifth round 172, 175

    No sixth round pick.

    Seventh round 223, 234

    Total Picks 10

Priority:Offensive Line, Safety, Linebacker, Cornerback. I think Schneider / Macdonald should use their first 5 picks on these positions in this positional order.

Use the 4th round pick on a fullback (new OC Klint Kubiak likes to use a blocking fullback).

They could probably pick a quality receiver and tight end with both 5th round picks.

Use the last 2 picks for added depth at Schneider / Macdonald's discretion.

Lions propose playoff seeding by record, not division winners - ESPN

Under the proposal, the division winner with the conference's best record would still receive the No. 1 overall seed. But after that, teams would be stacked by records, regardless of whether they won their divisions or received wild-card berths.

That approach could have a significant effect on the Lions and the highly competitive NFC North, which fielded three playoff teams last season -- the Lions (15-2), Minnesota Vikings (14-3) and Green Bay Packers (11-6). The Lions received the NFC's No. 1 seed, but the Vikings were seeded No. 5, and the Packers were No. 7. Based purely on records, the Vikings would have been the No. 3 seed, and the Packers would have been No. 5.

Not sure why this is significant.

The better, more significant proposed rule change is the present automatic first down for defensive holding. If you have a 3rd and forever situation and defense is called for holding the levy is auto first down. Just make it 5yds.

If anyone is interested, here are the final Seattle Seahawks 2025 draft picks.

#18 Gray Zabel offensive line, North Dakota State. He is 6 feet 6 inches 316 pounds. The man has played all positions on the offensive line in college. Seattle needs desperate help on the interior of the OL. I can see Gray as a 1st day starter at left guard. Zabel earned first-team Associated Press FCS All American honor, as well as first-team Missouri Valley Football Conference honors.

#35 Safety Nick Emmanwori South Carolina. Nick was a combine sensation who has a combination of size and strength. He ran a 4.38 40 yard dash. Posted a 43 inch vertical leap, and a 11-foot 6-inch broad jump. He recorded a team leading 88 tackles in 2024 as well as four interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, and three tackles for a loss. Nick Emmananwori has comparisons to Seahawk legend Kam Chancellor because of his high impact hard hitting ability. Nick earned first-team Associated Press All-American honors in 2024 and first-team All- SEC honors.

#50 Tight End Elijah Arroyo Miami. He is a pass catching machine and is a versatile and well-rounded tight end. Elijah can run every route in the route tree, understands zones, and knows how to get open. His 6-foot 5-inch frame allows him to line up wide when called to run a receiver's route. He started all 13 games in Miami and earned first-team All-ACC honors.

#92 Quarterback Jalen Milroe Alabama. He was the starter the last couple of years and passed for 2,844 yards and 16 touchdowns. He added another 20 touchdowns on the ground leading the team in rushing for 726 yards. Jalen is a dual threat and has comparisons to Lamar Jacksons toughness.

#142 Defensive End Rylie Mills Notre Dame. Coming in at 6 foot 5 inches and at 296 pounds, the man brings inside-out versatility to the defensive line, was captain on the Norte Dame squad National Championship Game last season. He had 7.5 sacks in 2024, has size, strength, and demeanor of a 3-4 defensive line. Rylie makes good use of his heavy hands to carve open edges and get into the pocket.

#166 Wide Receiver Tory Horton Colorado State. He was a two-time captain at Colorado State scoring 20 touchdowns and back-to-back 1000 yard seasons in the last couple of years. Tory also had three punt returns for touchdowns during his time at Colorado, as well as earning back-to-back first-team ALL-Mountain selection as a receiver.

#175 Fullback Robbie Ouzts Alabama. He is built like an ironworker. He's compact and muscular but surprisingly athletic in routes on block moves.

#192 Guard Bryce Cabeldue Kansas. He's 6 foot 4 inches and 308 pounds. A four-year starter at Kansas State and earned ALL-Big 12 honorable mention honors.

#223 Running Back Damien Matinez Miami. While he was playing at Oregon before transferring to Miami, Matinez beat Pac 12 rival University of Washington Huskies in 2022 and 2023. Rushing for a combined 230 yards and 84 receiving yards. He was named first-team All-Pac 12 two years in a row. Damien is truly a "big back" who finds yards after contact. He's a "banger," great pass catcher capable of taking the lions share of carries if needed.

#234 Guard Mason Richman Iowa. He was an All-Big Ten Honorables mention in 2024, as well as an Academic All-Big Ten selection and was a semifinalist for the Joe Moore award.

#238 Ricky White III Wide Receiver UNLV. In 2024, he was named Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Year, and led the team in receiving yards (1,041). He also blocked four punts while at UNLV.

Christmas is over. Time to get to work. The Lions defense is finally healthy with MacNeil rehabbing but have a free agent signing to more than cover. The Lions were ready before the draft. The draft gave us monsters on the lines. These guys are beasts. Back to being tough in the trenches.

Positive trench warfare in the NLF not only protects the QB, but gives the signal caller confidence throwing from the pocket. Being tough in the trenches also wins games.
John Schneider took 3 interior linemen in the draft, and one of them in the 1st round. Pick #18, Grey Zabel is projected to be a day one starter at left guard.
We all know how bad the 2024 Seahawk OL was. Hopefully, there will be a radical change in the Seahawk trenches for the better in 2025.
