This just came across a news feed. Ownership still in process which QB they will let go. Fields or Wilson? Russ only signed a 1 yr. deal with Pittsburgh. So, regardless, he is free to explore other options. Last season (2024) before signing his 1 yr. deal with the steelers, he was interested in the Raiders.

Yeah that doesn't say he's been released though and there is no news about it. So you deduced that from that headline but it hasn't happened yet.![]()

Even under the picture it says he could leave. He has not been let go.

Even if Art Rooney decides to keep Wilson over Fields and offer Russ a contract, he would still have to sign it. I don't think Rooney and the Steelers organization have any restrictions on Wilson if he rejects a Steeler contract and decides to sign a deal with another team. After all, Russell Wilson was only on a 1 yr. deal with Pittsburg, and that contract has expired. Since Russ showed interest in 2024 with possibly joining the Raiders, the pull might be a little hard to resist in joining his former HC Pete Carroll, and Russ's former OC Darrel Bevell, if Bevell decides to leave the Miami Dolphins and join Pete in Las Vegas. Rumors and speculation are all I got on this post. Only time will tell what will play out in this scenario if it plays out at all. I should have vetted a Steelers release of Wilson instead of listening to hearsay.![]()

I read somewhere today that Steelers QB Russel Wilson is not going to join his old coach, Pete Carroll in Las Vegas.
Russ stated he wants to remain with the Pittsburgh organization even though Steeler Brass is still undecided if they will keep the former Seahawks QB.
There is a decision still pending on whether the Pittsburgh Steelers will go with Justin Fields or Russel Wilson in the upcoming 2025 NFL season.
If Wilson finds that he is voted out, the famous quarterback will have to find another team that would be willing to take a gamble on signing the 36 year old veteran. But one thing we do know, by his own words, he won't be asking Pete Carroll and the Las Vegas Raiders for a job.

Either I forgot or did not know that Dan Campbell was a Detroit Lion player when the team went 0-16 in 2008. I'm sure Mr. FB didn't have a smile on his face back then. But it must be noted that Dan Campbell and the Lions organization is now a powerhouse and Bonafide NFL contender. Smile on FB.![]()

Pete Carroll was linked or rumored to the hiring of Darrell Bevell. His prior OC in Seattle, to join the Raiders new coaching staff.
But many in the NFL world were more less shocked when Pete and the Las Vegas football organization hired Chip Kelly instead.
Kelly always did seem to maintain a solid and successful coaching career in the college football ranks. But his past short time of coaching in the NFL (Eagles and 49ers) did not to seem fit his college coaching philosophy (although he did win as 1st yr. coach at Philly). But in all truth, Chip was not all that successful as a HC when in the NFL.
What do you think of the Pete Carroll hire of Chip Kelly to be his new OC in Las Vegas? Will both the Pete and Chip hirings turn the Raiders losing reputation around into a new successful direction? I guess only time will tell.
Chip bounced back when he returned to his former coaching in a college setting. Kelly was the OC at Ohio State. He helped lead the Buckeyes to the recent National Championship in defeating Norte Dame 34-23. So, it goes to show that Chip Kelly is still a winner, in college football.
But can he bring that winning chemistry to the Las Vegas Raiders? Pete Carroll seems to think so. So does Tom Brady and Mark Davis. They were able to lure Chip Kelly out of Ohio State with an attractive salary. The new Raider offensive coordinator will haul in a $6 million dollar payday in his first year as the new Raider OC. If Raider ownership is paying Chip Kelly that much, I wonder what Pete Carroll's year one payday is as HC? I'm sure his salary isn't cheap either.
Looks like the Raiders are "all in" as they assemble a new coaching staff. All they need now is a high caliber QB to run a Chip Kelly offensive.
