Wow...no thank you. Did they close the bridge down for a while because of the winds?

I hadnt heard they did but there were typical restrictions of no trucks, no trailers with sides exceeding 3’, lowered mph etc. There may have been escorts at one point. My wife drove in conditions like that once when we had a Cherokee and says never again. I wont.

For those not familiar with our Mackinac Bridge, its 5 miles long and connects our Upper and Lower Peninsulas...and weather can definitely affect travel on it. The following is an interesting read:

Most folk dont even know Michigan has two parts, though “Escanaba In Da Moonlight” and the Yoopers have helped. The Mighty Mack is every bit as awesome as the Golden Gate, it just doesnt get the Cali kind of attention.

We cooled to a high of 60 today, spotty showers but not much rain.

One, I didn't know it had 2 parts. Two, what the heck does '"Escanaba In Da Moonlight” and the Yoopers have helped' mean?

Upper Peninsula or the UP for short where the locals are called Yoopers because they live in the “Yoo-...”. About 20yrs ago Michigander Jeff Daniels wrote and directed “Escanaba in da moonlight” (Yooper accent provided in title). A movie about going off to hunting camp and Daniel’s character never having shot a buck, which has haunted him. Oh, then there’s ole Jimmer. My son and I watched that movie and laughed hysterically as he was on the eve of his first hunt, proud moment. The movie is a cult fave but is iconic with my now 29yr old son because that next morning he shot his first buck, first time out.
