This past January I went out to get the morning wood and my face instantly stung with the arctic kiss of winter. I couldnt see the mercury in the thermometer. I was thrilled. It only went to -40. I posted that on Facebook and the area weatherman (yes, I know the family) told their local guy to get to Ryp’s house quick. I was on tv all over the north! I could have given autographs everywhere I went the next 2 weeks.

    Here is what I saw:

This is painful for us. Be quite sure of that.

I’m sorry to hear that. Right now it’s 70 but falling to 35 by tonight. Crazy windy as the cold front pushes through.

Yesterday was a rainy, windy mess. Up here at the straits, we had 50mph winds and nasty rogue gusts that took out trees all over the place. Our power went out yesterday and finally had the crews in our yard fixing our mess an hour ago. It’s been a wild start to the weekend.

The winds I spoke of, here is the breakwall in Petoskey (my hometown 20mi south of here) taking a pounding. The lighthouse is 40ft tall so you can scale the waves.

It’s miserable here. You’d think it was November except the trees still have leaves.
