We are getting this strangely named blizzard event the weather dweebs are calling an “explosive bombogenesis”. We get winds like that 2-3 times a winter. Why do they have to blow this up into something big? Good grief.

Unintentional pun?
I've never heard the term 'bomb' applied before either:

They have about 6 different terms for this storm but the “explosive bombogenesis” is the one that WaPo was having fun with.

They're predicting a lot of storms, rain and high winds down here but unless something changes it looks like you're gonna get hit hard.

Drove home from prayer meeting last night on glare ice. I pulled over and stepped out to see how bad it was and couldnt stand up. This morning, I stepped out and walked the drive and stood in the middle of Van rd to check the road, most of that ice was melted. Strange to be out there in the calm, quiet and warm morning, so quiet you can hear faint sounds in the swamp. Gorgeous morning as predicted but the “bomb” will go off right after we get home from church.

We did survive the Explosive BomboGenesis better than most. Power still on, winds still blowing, snow now into Lake Effect mode. Some area roads are barricaded to traffic while recovering vehicles.

Here is a pic of I-75 freeway near the Gaylord exits yesterday. State Police called a state of emergency for all road travel in Otsego County. What a storm. We had it much easier due to getting only 3-5” of snow.
