Transgender woman uses restroom at same time as his wife, so 'upset' husband calls police.
Transgender woman uses restroom at same time as his wife, so 'upset' husband calls police.
Some transgender drama came to pass Sunday morning at a Denny's restaurant in Shelby, North Carolina.
Patron David Short apparently wasn't too happy that a transgender woman was using the restroom at the same time as his wife — and so Short called police, the Shelby Star reported.
Officer S.M. Hill arrived at the scene and told Short that under North Carolina House Bill 142 the transgender woman in question was allowed to use the restroom, the paper said. Current state legislation got rid of the controversial 2016 rule that required public restroom use corresponding to birth gender.
Double trouble
The Star noted that Michael Lloyd was with the transgender woman who used the Denny's restroom — and that Lloyd also identifies a woman.
Lloyd allegedly exited the restaurant and cursed at Short — and then Lloyd allegedly followed Short back into the Denny's and spit at Short and his wife, the paper said, citing police reports.
The Star reported that Lloyd was charged with disorderly conduct and was released with an unsecured bond.
The paper added that Lloyd didn't want to speak about the incident without consulting an attorney.
