STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING BY QUITTING GAME OF THRONES AND PORNOGRAPHY, ACTIVIST SAYS

A leading Christian abolitionist has said that the number one way to effectively battle the modern-day sex trafficking trade is to stop watching pornography.

Christine Caine, an international evangelist, leads global anti-trafficking organization A21, which helps police prosecute traffickers and offers care to the victims of sex slavery.

As the organization notes on its website, there are more people enslaved in the world today than "ever before in human history." Now, through its global network of anti-slavery campaigns, A21 hopes to change that for good. The first step? Stop watching porn.

In a talk at Bethel Church's "Heaven Come" conference in Los Angeles last weekend, Caine insisted that the pornography industry is being fueled by human trafficking and urged Christians to flee from the sordid material.

"I'll tell you how to stop human trafficking, sex trafficking overnight... if people stop watching porn...Just stop it," Caine implored, according to Fox News.

Nothing is free," she said of the adult industry, noting that many women and children are trafficked into the business. "Porn costs somebody."

The gifted speaker also took aim at sexually explicit television shows such as Game of Thrones.

"Here I am trying to put traffickers in jail and you're watching Game of Thrones," she said, highlighting the hypocrisy of many who claim to be working against issues of sexual slavery while watching TV shows that depict sexual promiscuity and violence.

Calling out those who seek to be "culturally relevant" by watching such a show, she asked pointedly, "how's that going to work with a trafficker?"

Instead of fueling the evil business of sex trafficking, Caine challenged believers to allow God to break their hearts for the enslaved and then to do something about it.

"The issue is not whether you are going to die, 100 percent we're all going to die," Caine declared. "The issue is will you live the life God put you on this earth to live? Will you step up into your God-given purpose and your God-given destiny and stop playing it safe, and stop living small, and start believing your God is huge and he's able to do so much more than you give him credit for..."

I am against pornography and don't watch Game of Thrones and believe Christians should be more selective in what they view so agree with her there
but I think she is being naive to suggest that the sex traffic will stop if people didn't watch porn or Game of Thrones.

Sex trafficking has being going on for a long time before porn existed or TV existed - it probably started not long after Cain killed Abel
I hate sex trafficking but it needs govts worldwide to address the issue

It's a bit like saying ...all druggies and alcoholics just need to stop their addictions and all crime, rapes and violence will cease
May as well say all evil will cease if people stopped sinning...yes in a perfect world but we live in a fallen world

Of course its right to challenge believers to live to a higher standard but we also need to deliver believers in bondage to sex addiction

I follow Jenn Johnson on Instagram who is Bill's daughter in law, married to his son Brian who is the head of Bethel music. About a week or two ago she posted something about she couldn't believe all the Christians she found out watched Game of Thrones. I was wondering where that came from and it probably had something to do with hearing this woman preach along with the fact that the finale of the whole series had just aired. So there was probably a lot of talk about it. There was a lot of justifying watching Thrones in the comments to Jenn from her post and she actually got some serious backlash. I mean some real twisting to justify it.

I don't think the speaker believes that she's going to solve human trafficking just because Christians and others quit watching Game of Thrones and porn. I think she made that statement more to make a point to Christians about what they watch, and hit them pretty hard with it.

The same thing happened with Harry Potter which is straight out demonic witchcraft and many believers didn't have a issue with letting their kids read the books and watch the movies. From memory some believers were trying to find the biblical viewpoint and we're discussing it in their small groups.

Many years ago I got rebuked by a mature man who was a elder at a church of a Pastor friend because I said Harry Potter was demonic.

Many believers go to the lowest denominator when it comes to entertainment

I think that is probably accurate that she was wanting to make a point but I think she needs to be careful to not make blanket statements as it can be used against her argument.
There was a time when I thought it was exciting or powerful to make big blanket statements but over the years I have seen where it can have a negative affect.
When it comes to proclaiming Gods greatness and goodness then go for it and preach big but other issues not so much

Christian media also likes click bait statements and made her comment into a headline
which then can deflect from her important points

Do you know if the people who attacked Jen Johnson over GoT go to her church or belong to Bethel churches?

No, not aware of where they went to church. I went back to the original post and it looks like she deleted ALL comments on her post. I guess it just got too divisive. But it wouldn't surprise me for a few of them to have been Bethel members. But I know she has a lot of followers outside the church, those that like the Bethel stuff.

One thing about churches like Bethel (and even the Bethel I go to which is connected), and I'm not doing this in a criticizing spirit at all because I like them, really like their teachers, Bill, Kris Vallaton, Danny Silk, etc. But a lot of problems come from what they DON'T teach, not what they actually teach. If you asked them if you still need to repent, if certain things were sin, etc, etc, etc, they would whole-heartedly agree. But I know a few inside stories about Bethel where they've found out students practicing certain head shaking things and sin, and they are really shocked. But it doesn't shock me because of some things about the culture. It's not that they would ever condone some of the stuff, but the culture promotes it inadvertently because of how things that are Biblical are taught, and because other things are left out. So it wouldn't surprise me of some of the criticism did come from members, but then again, it might not have been that many.

But I will say this about the Bethel I go to, they do teach some things about discipline, repentance, etc, that are really good. They don't leave those subjects alone.

It would take getting the majority of porn viewers worldwide to quit to create problems for the sex trafficking industry. But it's one way of making the porn viewers that also go to church aware of how these things are connected, which may lead them to take their porn viewing less lightly.
