Audience Member Calls Police Because Comedian Told Offensive Joke at Comedy Club

Comedy is now against societal rules, or at least many would have it that way. Freedom of speech and expression is absolutely promoted, so long as said speech and expression falls in line with the left's politically correct rules of peer to peer engagement. Step out of bounds and someone who is offended may call the police on you.

And that's exactly what happened recently in Florida.

It really was a bad subject to make a joke about tho. Try making a joke about a bomb in an airport or a gun in a school and you get detained or arrested.

He wasn't in an airport or in a school. He was a COMEDIAN in a COMEDY CLUB. Come on. It's ridiculous.

While I understand your point, I fully agree with Fuego that one is to expect crude outlandish humor in a COMEDY CLUB. Christians have no business attending those clubs but if one is going to go to those places then they should understand that comedians say all kinds of crazy stuff to get a laugh. A lot of comedians are complaining about how hard it has become for their craft in this ultra-pc culture.

I get what you're saying but it was still poor subject matter. Michael Richards (Kramer) thought his racist tirade was funny too just because he was in a comedy club and found out otherwise.

Heck, not only him but one of the former SNL stars thought it was funny to talk about wanting to have sex with his friends baby.

While all of these are over the top and disgusting they still fall under the freedom of expression. As a Black man I would certainly boycott and have nothing to do with a racist. Even more, as a CHRISTIAN I refused to fill my ears with dark humor anyway and would never attend those clubs. BUT, if you are going to attend those things then you should NOT be sensitive and easily offended or alarmed. The PC culture of today keeps people walking on egg shells and scared to say ANYTHING in the way of humor.

If we are going to start arresting people for freedom of expression, even "over the top" expression, then you and I can expect to go to prison soon because talking about Jesus and speaking out against abortion, homosexuality, etc. definitely offends a lot of people.

Anything has become poor subject matter anymore, it just does not matter what it is. The political correct game has become in need of being done away with due to exactly what took place at the Comedy Club. If you look at someone in a way they don't like, you can get into trouble. If you look a person of the opposite sex, well, that is a huge can of worms, uh-oh, but, if you look at someone that you think are good looking, you can be in trouble for sexual harassment and more.

    QUOTED FROM THE ARTICLE:

The idea that a man of Middle Eastern ethnicity can’t even make a joke about being a terrorist proves just how serious we take everything nowadays. Usually, a person self-denigrating his own race was supposed to be a safe form of comedy.

I don't attend Comedy Clubs or watch Comedians on TV (even the so-called Christian ones), but calling the cops was just ridiculous.
