For instance, everything in the Bible is true as in it is truly stated. But not everything in the Bible is true. For instance, what was said to Job in the first post is truly stated, and it does line up with scripture, but it possibly wasn't true where Job was concerned.
But I'm bringing this up about Job. Job said, 'The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord'. Is that truly recorded and truly stated? Yes, Job said that. But is that really scriptural? Was Job inspired when he said that? I personally don't believe so. There is no context that shows he was inspired by the Holy Spirit to say that as far as I can tell. So a lot of bad theology comes from that statement even though it is in the Bible, but it's not inspired.
The NT says the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But Jesus has come so we can have the abundant life. It also says every good and perfect gift comes from above. And other scriptures that would contradict what Job said in his limited knowledge of God. I'm sure there's more but that's the two that come to me off the top of my head.
So again, we have to watch what we attribute to being an inspired statement, especially in the OT. So much bad theology comes from things like that, and a lot of bad theology comes from our pain, trying to have an explanation for it that basically comes from our own reasonings, and not the scriptures.
