Psalm 23 is also taught and recited year in year out by millions of people all over the globe to little or no discernible benefit .

The Word Just like the Prophetic has to be received by faith, meditated on and acted on by its hearers for it to be of any use ....

I dont care how you slice it, the gift of prophecy is powerfully anointed and needed. We are not to sit here as a panel of judges over those we have no relationship with. We are not to judge another's servant. If you want to reject a word, then by all means do so. The one gift we need today is the gift of Prophecy. Paul said to covet such. I sure do.

The one thing we are NOT to do is despise prophesyings. These "soft" and generic words may not edify you at all but I assure you there may just be someone that is clinging to hope in desperate need of encouragement. Let us not despise these words of the Lord.

The Lord has given me two words for our church this year....
    1. Bear one another's burdens so to fulfill the law of Christ.
    2. Go deeper.
    ....and I; we shall

Why can't we have both. Why does the prophetic have to be "dramatic"?

Read the Old Testament prophets again. A lot of "generic" stuff in there. Just about all of it was, "If you do then I'll do.... If you don't then this is what will happen...."

I stick with what Jehoshaphat said, "Believe His prophets and you will prosper" (2 Chron. 20)

    Amen!

I especially like Matt 10:41 “He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward.“

This verse from the new covenant is more relevant for us :

1 Cor 14:29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge

What does "in the name of a prophet" mean ?

Why is any one part of the Scripture more relevant than the other? God's words to Jehoshaphat have as much authority today as His words spoken through Paul.
