Johnny Mac’s mocking is absurd. Total cessationist tactics and result. If they can ridicule a people it gives their point exponential power, so they think. Someday JM will wish he hadnt gone down this road.

I would like to see him spend a whole week out on the streets with the likes of the TLR folks.

I’d buy tickets to see that.

Rod is a very good online friend of mine. We have spent time together on the Christianforums.com forum. He does an excellent job with WoF apologetics.
When people kept asking me to put my WoF apologetics site back up I began asking God to raise someone else to fill that void so that I can concentrate on pastoring, teaching and other ministry areas. It seems that God answerd that with Rod and he is doing a way better job than I could have. I am relieved and jealous at the same time

What I don't get though is how ANYONE could read those two books and become cessationists. You seriously have to lack any grounding in the Word to allow those books to turn you away from the truth. The fact that I found them so utterly unconvincing, stupid, and ridiculous with their mocking, out-of-context quotes and blatant twisting of Scripture is probably what caused me the most pain in reading any parts of those books.
Better you than me.

I could never be a cessationist because of time constraints. How would I be able travel every country and speak to every believer to see for sure that miracles dont happen anymore. Where does JM find this kind of time??

And then you have what I call the more covert 'practical and functional' cessationists who say they still believe God does all that today but when presented with a specific situation it's never God.

I wonder if JM has any idea how much his influence has fueled unnecessary division - what could have been more "agree to disagree" and "live and let live".
I found out my BIL led a revolt in their church and separated with several families, on the flimsiest of reasons, which I strongly suspect were fueled by his very conservative views and anti-PC bent. He saw that the church was moving more towards a spirit-filled direction, and did his part to squelch that.

Curious (if you please) did that church succeed in going the spirit-filled direction?
