Taking a day off and sitting here enjoying the peace when rather suddenly the Fisher comes across the deck and into the woods. I grabbed my phone and headed out to find it hoping it would tree. No deal. They are elusive.

Just a few moments ago we were watching this juvenile bald eagle making swooping low passes at my crow decoy. It took 4 attempts until it lost interest of having crow for dinner.
Check out the contrast in size.
Here you can see the juvenile markings. We have seen scads of bald eagles lately.

The beauty of the wilderness in spring is a sight to behold and living in N Michigan’s most remote and rugged area has it’s own kind of life. We had a sharp shinned hawk in the yard the past few days scanning the area near the feeder, watched a kingfisher diving into the water just one day after ice-out. The frogs are peeping and croaking, and the area is being converged upon by bird migration (7,000+ redtail hawks sighted 15mi north of us at the Straits).

We have a Cooper's hawk nest on our neighbor's property. Imagine my shock watching a chickadee getting snatched off my feeder! Yikes! That hawk swooped in so fast and was gone just as fast. This wasn't your usual sit up high, watch the birds scatter and wait til the hawk leaves..

They will hide out under shrubs and in stranger places. You dont see Coopers very often. Nice sighting.
