Yard Mystery.
The other day while on the upstairs deck I found a Northern Flicker dead on the deck. I gave it a simple toss down under the big pine thinking something will carry it off. A few days later I checked to see if maybe a crow, coon or possum took it. Nope. It was partially buried head down and no signs of digging or pine needles other than a strange vortex. Yesterday it was almost completely buried almost like there is a burrowing critter pulling the bird carcass underground.
This is taken yesterday:
This pic is this morning. It honestly looks like the earth is pulling it down. Something is eating it from down below. Bizarre.

Our friends that live a few miles down the road were showing me a pic they took of a wolf track they came up on. It is frighteningly HUGE. She said there are also pics of the stride which they found equally stunning. This is one big wolf. Both ladies are CPL but were not carrying. They said that wont happen again. Wow...

My brother and I are fishing the lake again. We are convinced there is good fishing (from what locals say) but last night we only saw the bullhead my brother caught at sunset.

As pretty as they are, I’m grateful there are not more of them. Blue Herons can put a dent in fish numbers on small lakes.
