I'm not buying that. Haiti is primarily used for fund raising, a lot of folks line their pockets with Haiti stories.
With all the money collectively raised for Haitian "disaster relief" everyone down there should be living in mansions.
We help support Jesus in Haiti Ministries down there. My wife knows the pastor who is running it and he is running an orphanage and has adopted 20+ kids in the past few years. Praying hard for them to come through this.
