The kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12, NKJV).

"How violent Christ was about our salvation! He was in agony; He 'continued all night in prayer' (Luke 6:12). He wept, He fasted, He died a violent death; He rose violently out of the grave.

Was Christ so violent for our salvation, and does it not become us to be violent who are so intimately concerned in it? Christ’s violence was not only satisfactory, but exemplary. It was not only to appease God, but to teach us. Christ was violent in dying to teach us to be violent in believing." Thomas Watson

Pray About It: To be effective pray-ers, there must be a violent believing. Taking God solidly at His Word, securing the promises He has given, soundly refusing doubt; these are some of the attributes of violent believing in prayer.

Like most everything else in the Christian life, this kind of praying doesn’t necessarily come with ease. Rather, like the exercising of a muscle to make it stronger, so too prayer must be made more effective through regular exercise. Small muscles may grow into large powerful muscles. So too a person of small prayers may, through exercise, grow into a mighty warrior of God.

Today, be violent in taking the kingdom. Jesus has told us to do so.

"Satan fears prayer and offsets it at every angle. At every opportunity he stalls the impulse to take part in it, for he has felt the smart of men who pray in the Holy Ghost. Again and again hell has shuddered because of the onslaughts of men who have taken the kingdom of heaven by violence.” Leonard Ravenhill

Love this Bookman. The shortest distance between your trouble and a solution is the distance between the floor and your knees.
Don't tell God how big your storm is, tell your storm how big your God is.

Wow, thanks, Femme. I've gotten several unsolicited endorsements in the past year, including Anne Graham Lotz. God is blessing!
