    OK, Brothers-in-Christ, Need Your Opinions...

Is it OK for a man to wear a baseball cap in church (while seated in the sanctuary)?

There are 2 young men - Well, they're not that young - One is around 45, and the other is around 30 years old who don't take their hats/caps off upon entering the sanctuary.

    Drives my DH bonkers!!!

Are we simply "old-school," or is it not considered disrespectful any more?

I've never seen it done here. I've seen some pretty tacky clothes at church though. I don't have a problem with casual but I'm old school enough to appreciate people who show respect.

I just noticed you were addressing brothers!

    No worries, Sis. ♥

I was asking the brothers, because I wanted opinions from a man's perspective - Especially since my DH thinks it's inappropriate, unscriptural, and disrespectful - But he's also wondering if we are being "judgmental" and old-fashioned?

No it's a sign of rebellion usually. I recall only one young guy wearing one while I preached, some 22 years ago. He sat slumped, arms crossed in backmost pew at the aisle, hat pulled down and sneering at me manifesting his demons. He told his father inlaw (a member) he hated my guts and to never take him there again. First time and last time I ever saw him.

With God, it's always about the heart, and that includes showing some honor and respect toward Him and His things.

As a reference, Hubby quoted this scripture:

A man ought not have his head covered during worship, since he is the image and [reflected] glory of God; but the woman is the expression of man's glory.

Sometimes, though, they just don't know... You know, no common sense. They weren't taught. Or they don't think about it. Some good man may just need to come alongside and talk to them about the reason for hats and what they mean.

I hear ya, but they've just started wearing caps in the sanctuary the last 3 or 4 months...

PLUS, one of them is the Pastor's son (who brings the message on Sunday mornings on occasion), and the other one is the son of the (male) Assistant to the Pastor (who also speaks just about every other month)

Of course, they don't wear the caps while in the pulpit, but we wonder if it's just a matter of time, before they will?

We are just blown away that (apparently) neither of their fathers seem to have a problem with it.

I don't have a problem with it per se. I have a friend that preaches in a visor a lot, although there is no top on it. And God still shows up. lol.

There is the which has now become somewhat 'old school' of not wearing a hat indoors. God looks on the heart. I'm not a cap wearer, but I wouldn't have a problem wearing one in church although I probably wouldn't. Don't major on the minors is how I look at it. Don't strain at a gnat and swallow a candle.
