I wish they would do more followups where they talk about how the person's life some time after was different from before the deliverance. It looks spectacular to me and probably correspondingly scary to most non-believers but the fact that the person looks happy for a little while after doesn't tell me that much.

Especially when his 'evidence' of something being God or not is if they change after the particular manifestation happened. Which I consider him being a little disingenuous about. He said in one of the videos that when he used to see them on the ground shaking he would say 'more Lord'. Now he said he casts the devil out. So if 'change' is the criteria, how do you know based on that whether the person is shaking under the power of God or the power of the devil? Maybe it's God and you're trying to cast a devil out. How would you know if your criteria is 'change' but there hasn't been enough time to see if any change has happened if you're assuming it's the devil because they are shaking and 'cast the devil out' right then.

Not to mention if 'now I cast the devil out' then you've closed yourself off to any manifestation like that being God. You may find yourself working against God since you have no way to evaluate at the moment but your own stated criteria which contradicts itself.

My impression is that they follow up on people and ascertain change but he doesn't discuss that in his deliverance videos.

I'm concerned that they end up casting out more demons than are really there. And once the deliverance starts there's typically a large group praying in tongues and things get very intense with the minister constantly shouting at the demon(s). That could create enough peer pressure to produce soulish manifestations that are interpreted as a demon or more demons, especially if the person being delivered trusts the minister's judgment too blindly. IOW, if the minister shouts "a demon" then the person will start coughing in response because of expectation. TLR might not seem that bad but other ministries have gone completely off the rail with deliverance because they thought that the more demons they cast out the more on track they must be.

I have had similar results without a huge crowd and the thing doesn't want to come out. In the end they always do, but the struggle is real at times. "Casting out more demons than there are" is part of the mentality that has put the church into the shape it is in in America today. Most of the "church" doesn't even want to talk about it. I think you are getting the wrong impression because they baptize so many people and for the most part only video the dramatic deliverance baptisms. They have to have baptized over a thousand people by now.

Some of you folks who are down in that area should maybe go check them out. Looks like they are doing meetings in NC and SC. The Jesus Center is in NC.

But you agree that it's quite possible to go overboard on deliverance ? There are many examples. I'd like to cast out exactly as many demons as are there and no more than that. If it's zero then fine.

I agree that you cannot cast out something that is not there. Sometimes it is the flesh and not a spirit.
Going overboard on deliverance in my book is watching Bob Larson talking to demons and using his big shiny cross and such and making a show of it instead of a display of the power of God. I believe Philip in Samaria is a great example of the gospel being powerfully spread.

What really adds a challenge to any breaking down or scrutiny of any deliverance ministry is the need to understand that even a glass of water given in Jesus name will bring a heavenly result and reward. Trouble is, we are watching just a quick glimpse of a man's ministry without testimony of the one ministered to. Even if we could see a grand and miraculous change in one's life, we still only have one glimpse. You may compare this with the great Billy Graham that could draw crowds from the triple deck of a large stadium yet we dont really see a change in even one life unless they testify and after that there is still the question of whether they are faithfully walking it out. Well, we do have this...Billy was faithful, TLR is faithful.

I'm thankful for the work he is doing. Magnifying the power of God. I wouldn't mind going around with him myself for a time. I just hate to see him get into that 'Andrew Strom' view of manifestations where every manifestation is of the devil or a kundanali spirit. Like many, his own explanations contradict themselves as I posted above. This is a subject Dr Brown tackled I believe in his 'The Revival Answers Book' mainly in response to Hank's criticisms. TLR' criticisms are similar. I just pray the Spirit of God will move him into a more balanced view of it.
