    Armour bearers.....

I had flash backs thanks to cardinal TT....

I was in a church years ago that was a WOF church. The pastor was soooooooo anointed he had to have armour bearers and the church secret service. He would have a man or men carry his bible and notes up to the pulpit. They would then wait for him at his assigned seat. He surrounded himself with 5 or 6 church secret service armor bearers wearing dark suits and ear pieces and they would surround him so his anointing would not be disturbed. Seriously this guy would go to the bathroom and these guys would wait outside the door. I guess you can say the anointing flowed in the bathroom. I was talking to someone out in the foyer and I used the pastors first name in the conversation. This voice behind me corrected me telling me "Thats pastor to you Lee!" My next words I had to choke down... I eventually was invited to be on the pastors executive prayer team. Why? Because my wife and I tithed the most that year into the church. The stories go on but you get my drift. We eventually left voluntarily but everyone we knew there were told to not have anything to do with us. Sad but true... any other stories?

Note not all WOF churches are like this so don't assume I meant all WOF churches...

That's what I sometimes refer to as "the part of this world called the church".

At one time I would have done that. Not any more. :)

I think a lot of folks suffer from Stockholm Syndrome:

Several symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome have been identified in the following: positive feelings toward the controller, negative feelings toward the rescuers, supportive behavior by the victim helping the abuser, and lack of desire by the victim to be rescued.

Thing is, the folks actually come to expect/demand this behaviour and really at the end of the day just who lifts up these clowns?

I'm not a fan of blaming victims, just saying that many are willing to go along to get along. At their own peril.

Did the secret service have to 'flush the dunny' after he used it?

flush the dunny = press toilet button

While I do believe it is important to have security for the leadership in many churches, I personally think things like you have described are overblown. I mean that the staff have gone over the top. I presume it is because of pride and arrogance with the particular leader. Respect and honor is one thing, but it is easy to cross the lines and go overboard making the leader to be a primadonna, aka a prince or a king.

I love WOF. Amen! ... and there are times when preparing to minister where the man of God needs to be protected from frivolous and annoying people the devil is sending to disrupt and distract them prior to ministry time, ... but a pastor MUST be approachable to the members of the congregation.

I served on our ministry of defense team at my home church for about 5-6 years. It was very rewarding, and I believe a much needed ministry, particularly for very large member churches (at the time our church had over 20,000).

Our pastor initially didn't want it, but his wife insisted. There had been threats against him and his family.

I believe in the beginning of the MOD ministry, a few guys (members of the church that were certified police officers) guarded him without his knowledge, until he finally noticed them.
When your praise match your prayers, the answer will come.
