I think that flat-earth is where one's either just being a troll (which probably doesn't apply to your friend) or one no longer cares about facts. To some people stuff like that becomes a drug, viewing the world in the new colors supplied by their body of beliefs and theories makes them high. I think that "false flag" theories in particular have a powerful effect on how people end up viewing the world. Not that there literally is no such thing but it's easy to go off the deep end on that sort of thing.

I didn't really want to use wikipedia, but it was the quickest "definition" to grab. The NAR encompasses Bethel, IHOP, and many, many other teachers, preachers, apostles and prophets. To say they "assimilate" from other churches is misleading when, in reality, it's people who are hungry for the things of God that they aren't getting in their own churches. It's not like the NAR is the Borg and simply assimilates against people's wills.

The heresy hunters take the manifestations of the Holy Spirit that occur at all these churches and meetings and attribute them to the enemy, the one thing Jesus said we should not do, as the pharisees did to him, saying the healing he was doing was of Beelzebub. Anything Pentecostal, Charismatic, Bethel, you name it is fare game.... apparently, even Billy Graham.

That was precisely the thought I had before you posted that.

Heretic hunters have misrepresented NAR. The New Apostolic Reformation term was coined by C. Peter Wagner about a global church trend from the 20th century. Because he associated with Bethel, IHOP ... etc. the critics decided that those churches were affiliated with NAR and created this heretical monstrosity out of whole cloth. None of the so-called NAR ministries consider themselves NAR.

I need to direct her into ministries that are rock solid but nothing she can accuse them of being NAR.

Is there even such a thing? I don't know how to reach her... of course, she thinks I'M the one that's deceived. The last time I asked her where she attends church, she wasn't... she can't find one that teaches "truth."

I don't want to waste a LOT of time on foolish arguments with her but when I see a post, I want to be able to refute it.

She's also a flat-earther and SO anti-vaccine, she says you aren't even a Christian if you vaccinate your kids. (I'm anti-vax as well, but nowhere near the scale she is...) She's deep into conspiracy theories and "false flag" events...

I'm concerned that she's bought into the deception so deep, nothing can get through...

Can you toss me a few teachers, preachers, ministries that I can refer to? I mean ... you should have seen what she posted about Billy Graham...
Maybe get her to watch some of these videos from TLR Pioneer School

Cessationists tend to disapprove strongly of the (re)-introduction of the offices of the apostle and the prophet. They already employ the pastor, teacher and evangelist with nearly non-supernatural connotations but the prophet is supposed to be supernatural and also redundant since the completion of the Bible. The apostle is definitely supposed to be supernatural, in my experience with cessationists online they tend to view the apostles of the Bible with an attitude that resembles Catholic veneration of Mary and the idea that anyone could operate in a similar manner today is often met with an attitude that suggests that they see it as an affront, an insult.

I wouldn't worry too much AJ. If she is diligently seeking truth, the Lord will give it to her.

Proverbs 8:17 “I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.

Luke 11:11 "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?

I did a little digging on the NAR group some years ago and it was obvious from their own published materials (probably since scrubbed) that they were in cahoots with US military/intelligence, what we have come to recognize as the "deep state". They were active in promoting ministry "testimonies" that were proven to be war propaganda. One member here actively promoted a false story from the "front lines". When called out on it, the response was fairly blistering.

Anyway, I don't want to get into the exposure business or heretic hunting. There is a wide gulf between the standard issue follower/member of these groups and the top level "leaders". If the leaders are up to monkey business behind the scenes, I guess there will be a price to pay but the typical member is gathering with the brethren, worshiping God and being fed the Word.

So back to the woman in question, she is probably not in danger if she is genuinely seeking the Lord, as much as it is foisted onto the Body that what the big shots do is kinda none of our business, so it is with others. We have liberty in Christ.

You have to remember Wikipedia entries are not necessarily written by someone who is a fan of what they're writing about. There's nothing about Bethel, IHOP, etc, where their modus operandi is 'assimilating members from other churches.'

True. Wikipedia is very controlled information. Many of the entries are guarded fiercely as anyone can edit them. I edited a few wikipedia entries in the past and watched them revert back within minutes.
