    Paul Cain Dies

I first heard him in 1991 at a John Wimber conference and he had a very accurate prophetic gift. As a young man he knew and ministered with William Branham.

Yeah, he died a couple of days ago. I didn't even think about posting it.

I was reading a book many years ago, "Surprised by the Voice of God' by Jack Deere. He knew Cain real well. He said he was in one of his meetings sitting on the front row, and his mind was wandering and he started thinking about a dog he had at one time. After a few seconds of that Paul Cain said to him, "Jack, why are you sitting there thinking about that old dog of yours?" lol.

I believe Paul Cain made it to glory upon his death. Even though he was reluctant at first to admit he had sinned, I sense he was truly repentant as time unfolded. Big name preachers seem to be put on the "spotlight" when they fall. Yet, we all have sinned since initial salvation, or at least I have. Thank God He is merciful and forgiving when we come before Him with a repentant heart.
If you put God First, you have Him at Last.

I used to have that book. Just might want to get another copy to circulate amongs interested folks here at our non-pentecostal church. You know, leave a small deposit behind before we move on.

I have both Jack Deere's books. His first one was a big help to me when it came out not too long after John MacArthur published "Charismatic Chaos".

However, the best book on the subject is called "Miracles are for Today" by Troy J. Edwards (Cheap plug)

But anyway, it was in his books that I learned about Paul Cain. I was impressed by how the man could operate in the Spirit as he did.

I remember being ministered by some students from John Wimbers' school back in the 90s. They were right on the money in the words they were giving to me. I know that the Vineyard guys and us WoF guys had some doctrinal disagreements but I have always appreciated their desire to minister in the Spirit.

Being a big part of WoF at the time, I don't really remember the Vineyard even existing. In later years when I did find out and saw some Wimber, etc, I wished I had known about them.

There's the well known Wimber story I really like:

"A professional musician who played the Las Vegas circuit for 5 years, John later signed with the Righteous Brothers. When John was gripped by God in 1963, he was a "beer-guzzling, drug abusing pop musician, who was converted at the age of 29 while chain-smoking his way through a Quaker-led Bible Study."

He soon became a voracious Bible reader and after weeks of reading about life changing miracles in the Bible and attending boring church services, John asked a lay leader:"

"When do we get to do the stuff? You know, the stuff here in the Bible; the stuff Jesus did, like healing the sick, raising the dead, healing the blind – stuff like that?"

He was told that they didn't do that anymore – only what they did in their weekly services. John replied, "You mean I gave up drugs for that?"

Sounded like my kind of guy.
