Question Newbie to Forum Newbie to Convert

    Hello Y'all.. I am a new here, I am a SAHW/Mom
For 21 years I went to a Baptist Church ,I asked God to come into my life late (I just turned 50)
I naturally went to a Baptist Church because my Husband went to one while he lived at his dads house.
Although I have different beliefs that a Baptist, I have always leaned more towards AOG...
I recently Stopped going to a a Baptist Church, and started visiting a AOG Church up the road, and I LOVED every bit of the service
LOVED LOVED it...My Husband actually visited the two times with me.
I was so excited when I told our Son (he is 21) I started going to Church when he was about 5 months old.
He has always had the same beliefs as I, My son Is Kind of different than others his age. He was introduced into missionary work at age 8 and fell in LOVE with it.
He works so he is only able to go every other Sunday So his next Sunday off he is excited to go, and Next Tuesday is excited to go talk to the Pastor.
Any ways, I am wanting to make this Church My home Church and well I do not know how to go about it...
We have known the Pastor for about 6 years now so that will make it easier there, and I felt so relaxed and comfortable there, at the Baptist Churches I went to hardly one came to welcome us, but here, EVERYONE welcomed us, and I was so relaxed and not Tense :-)
Any ways. I do not know how to go about changing church and making this my home..

    *Sorry for long post

Welcome to the forums and best of all, welcome to the wildside.

I am an older (60) AoG pastor and we have had some that have come in from the non-gifts churches (baptist, most frequently) that sense the Presence of God and have the same reaction you have. Glad to have you with us.

Have you talked to your Hubby about joining this AOG Church, and is he interested in joining too? - If not, it's gonna be a little awkward with the two of you going in different directions on Sunday... While, it's not that unusual, it's soooo much nicer when couples worship together.

If your Hubby doesn't have a problem with it, let the Pastor know you are interested in becoming a member of his Church, and I'm sure he will take it from there - Also, don't forget to let your current (Baptist) Pastor know you are moving your membership - It's the respectful thing to do.

So glad you've found a Church where you feel loved and comfortable, but remember there are no PERFECT churches - Keep us posted on how this works out, OK?

My husband rarely goes to Church, and it is awkward me going to a Baptist Church believing my beliefs,I have felt awkward in a Baptist Church for 21 years..Felt at home in the AOG church by my house.
I know there are no perfect Churches but when I have been unhappy for 21 years why keep going?

Ahhh, so then go for it, Sister, and enjoy!

Oh, and I totally understand where you're coming from - my Hubby pastored a Baptist Church for 5 years, and we're both from a Charismatic/Pentecostal background...

We left and planted a Church, once we realized that we had taken them (spiritually) as far as we could - YES, there were many times when I felt as though I was suffocating, but nonetheless...

Thank you. Yes I was so un happy, rarely interacted with any one, never felt totally at home, felt lost and out of place...
Everyone on my grandmothers side is AOG,minus 1 cousin, But when I started going to Church my husband went then slacked off then totally stopped going the last 6 years.
I knew for a long time I did not belong there but I went because of my husband, even though i was un happy.

I pray that you will be fulfilled in this "new" place, and that you will allow God to use the gifts that He has placed in you to be a blessing to others as well.

And speaking in other tongues is a good thing, along with prophecy, etc
