    Being Open about Your Faith on the Job

    What's Your personal position or policy? Have any testimony about it?

    I was inspired by my pastor to be wisely aggressive in your faith at work. Before he went into full-time ministry, he kept a Bible at his desk and made sure his witness/behavior was consistent with a godly life.

    One time someone yelled to him across the assembled office crowd, "Hey do you speak in tongues?" For a moment he heard that "voice of timidity" that tells you to lay low and be quiet about your faith. But then the Spirit of boldness rose up in him, and he yelled back< "Yes I do and its GREAT!"

    One thing he says, make sure you are excellent performer at work as well.
    '==================
    So interestingly, three of us got talking about religious stuff in the office in a light-hearted way today. So my boss says, "Are you one of them tongue-talkers?" Without hesitation, I said directly, "Yup, guilty as charged." We all had a good laugh. but now he knows where I stand. You cant go around timid and afraid of what people think on things that are important to you.

    The key word being 'wisely'. When you are aggressive, but in God's wisdom, it doesn't come across as aggressive at all. And as you could see with him, even opened up other opportunities to profess certain things that were actually instigated by the others.

    I am open about my faith. But, I do not speak of it while working. I'm being paid to do a job, not discuss my faith.
    When I get questions, I answer, but always keep that in mind.
    I'm very happy to talk about it on my own time!

    As a preacher/pastor, this is something that just happens wherever I go. It’s like a fire in my bones.

    I'm retired now (Thank you, Jesus!), but every job I've ever had, since becoming a Born-Again, I've always kept a small Bible (in plain sight) on my desk...

    I never beat my co-workers upside the head with the Gospel, but they did see me reading my Bible during my lunch hour, I'd offer to pray for them, if they experienced a sickness, death or other tragedy in their lives, and I always, ALWAYS tried to "walk upright" before them.

    They knew I was a Christian - Either by the way I carried myself (no cursing, laughing at vulgar and obscene jokes or emails, etc.- no drinking or going out to after work parties, etc.)… I showed everyone the same love of God and respect - from the CEO's to the cleaning ladies.

    As someone mentioned above, most importantly, my "witness/behavior was consistent with a godly life."

    I can't even count the number of co-workers I've led to the Lord, prayed for, and even laid hands on to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

    You just have to be discreet and Holy Spirit led - "Wise as a serpent, but harmless as a Dove."

    At the hospital I've worked at for almost seven years, I basically listen to see "where they are" spiritually. If there's the opportunity we discuss things, if not I just listen. Many times I get the chance to share with the cancer patient's family..but because I'm with (potentially) terminal patients I'm careful to not appear "pushy".
