That year was a whirlwind tour of luxury: $25,000-a-night royal suites in Dubai, seaside resorts in Greece, tours of the Swiss Alps, villas on Lake Como in Italy, basking on the golden coast of Australia, shopping sprees at Harrods in London, and numerous trips to Israel, Hawaii, and everywhere in between. The pay was great, we flew on our own private Gulfstream, and I got to buy custom suits. All I had to do was catch people and look spiritual!

I don't necessarily agree with the nephew in all of the criticism, just pointing out the spending, is that what might be called "excess"? 25 grand a night?

God bless Benny Hinn, maybe this is proper stewardship, I don't really know anymore.

Money, big money can ruin people, shipwreck faith. I don't say this to bash "prosperity" or Benny but I did catch from the tone of the OP that maybe he is reconsidering some of his past decisions. He has been a wonderful blessing to the church and I hope to see him in a mansion in heaven someday.

Using God's money like that? He likely will get a log cabin in the corner of Glory-land.

I don't want to pick on Benny, I hope he is richly rewarded in eternity. Not many have been tempted (blessed?) with that much money on earth so it is probably a learning curve for him. We'll see.

Same thing goes for ministers caught up in sexual sin, I usually hear the "righteous" claim "I would never do that", ah yeah, you're right, because you've never had that much temptation thrown in your face. The wrath of man does not lead to Godly sorrow.

Thing is I don't think many know just how over the top the lifestyles are. Living well sounds good and most of us want that for ourselves and others but $5,000.00 a night rooms, thousand dollar bottles of wine, airplane fleets ... greed is good I suppose.
I suppose he used his personal money for that. Salary, book royalties etc. Rather than money given to the ministry as such. His new and lighter lifestyle may be a product of his spending more time with Bonnke, Kolenda, Todd White and some of their friends.

I've never bought into the personal book sales/royalties bit, that's a bit of a shell game. One doesn't work without the other (large scale ministry/massive book sales).

Preachers who think they must have an expensive multi-million dollar custom built home, drive exotic expensive cars, and wear the most expensive custom tailored made suits available, who constantly plead for donations through the avenue of meetings, television, and the printed page in order to finance their extravagant lucrative lifestyles, are controlled by a spirit of covetousness and the spirit of this world.

The apostle Paul was a full time minister, yet he was able to say to the Philippians, "...I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound..."(Phil 4:11-12). Paul learned the key to contentment. He not only emphasized the fact that godliness with contentment is "great gain," but defined contentment as being satisfied with the very basics of having food and clothing, ..."And having food and raiment let us be therefore content"...(1 Tim 6:8).

This seems to be the opposite attitude that plague some of todays wealthy preachers, in which it would seem that their chief concern is to acquire more money for worldly possessions.
It would seem just that such a high profile preacher would be content with having their basic needs met, and use anything given beyond that to build the kingdom of God instead of their own earthly kingdoms.

Let me step down from my soap box rant on the so called "covetousness preacher" which speaks to the tone of a selfish desire to acquire more money to sustain their person gain, and briefly share on a personal level.

Money in itself is neither good or evil. The evil is in the unhealthy desire and greed for more money. Jesus taught that we should use "unrighteous mammon," which refers to the worlds riches, in serving God instead of mammon (Lk 16:1-13). Again, money in itself is not evil. The sin is coveting after money to exploit ones own selfish personal gains without any restraint by which means to acquire it, and trusting in the riches it (temporary) provides. When the spirit of covetousness and the spirit of mammon gain control, it becomes the driving forces in peoples lives which in time, will bring corruption and lead to destruction.

Money can be a means of a blessing or cursing in our lives. It represents your time, your talents and abilities, and your hard work. Your hard earned money and how you spend it is important to God. If we use it wisely, and are faithful in our giving to God and ministering to the needs of others, we will be blessed. If we hoard it and spend it on selfish ambitions and worldly pursuits, we will bring sorrow upon ourselves. "There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt" (Ecc 5:13).

God wants our money not only to be a source of blessing in meeting our needs and our family's needs, but also in ministering to the needs of others, and reaching the lost locally and in the nations of the world.
If you put God First, you have Him at Last.
