    Paul Scanlon on millennials

Paul Scanlon is a former Charismatic pastor and currently a worldwide speaker on effective communication. Here's an excerpt from a recent newsletter :

Though this is not a new subject and though Jesus was the ultimate example of a servant leader, this seminar isn't exclusively for or about the church, it's about humanity. It's a three hour experience where we will do two things...

FIRSTLY: I want to establish that this is a idea who's time has come globally. By examining both the current world wide political revolutions and the generational mindset shifts that the millennials represent. I want to show clearly that at the heart of all this is a mass people movement against self serving leadership regimes.

SECONDLY: I want to offer a few reasons for the decline of servant leadership not least of which is the rise of huge impersonal institutions and the loss of physical community. I want also to suggest ways to restore servant leadership back into the mainstream of our businesses, politics churches and communities.

My hope is that by attending this event you will in some way join the
    THE SERVANT LEADERSHIP REVOLUTION.

We need to say to these self serving organisations:
We will no longer buy from you
    Serve you
    Partner with you
    Do business with you
    Vote for you
Support you or work for you.

In fact we are going to replace you and set up in competition with you and serve our way back into the hearts and lives of our communities. We know that when we sow service we reap influence and that "earned" influence becomes the foundation of a new breed of leaders called SERVANT LEADERS.

What he is talking about in the negative sense is how I perceive many Pentecostal/Charismatic leaders of yesteryear. Not really the early Pentecostals but many of the leaders that have emerged after World War 2. The phenomenon is still around but it is (hopefully) being replaced by a new breed of minister and leader that is more like what he describes.

He's biting off a big a big chunk there, trying to deal with "humanity", maybe just start with the church and let them do the rest.

But, really, millennials don't want to serve mac daddy, big bucks preachers any more? Oh, the shame...

He speaks to large corporations as well so he tries to broaden his perspective.
